Rosemont was built in 1842 by J.A. McKinney as a wedding gift to his daughter, Susan, upon her marriage to John Netherland.  Following the deaths of Susan and John Netherland, Rosemont passed among their descendants until 2019, when Matthew, Shawn, and Shawn’s brother, Erik, purchased the home.

 

We understand that the original house included the front part of the house that includes the two front rooms and what is now the kitchen.  The original kitchen was a separate building just to the south.  By the 1890s, the original kitchen was replaced by the addition that is now the library and back bedroom (now Shawn’s office).  The most recent addition was made in ca.1989 to replace a wooden structure with the bricked-in sunroom and breakfast nook. 

 

There are 6 fireplaces in the house, only one of which currently functions.

 

While the house is grand in scale, it is still practical with just 3 bedrooms and 2 ½ baths.
