Cotinus obovatus
The American Smoke tree, so named because of the billowy plums on its seeds, is very rare, only occurring in scattered populations across Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, and Texas. Related to cashews, it is extremely drought tolerant and has beautiful red-orange fall color.
