The Rosemont Boys

The large white house across the creek is known as Three Oaks, for there were once three enormous 300 year-old oaks growing on the property. The last of these titans blew over in a wind storm two years ago (a white oak, Quecrus alba). Fortunately, our lovely neighbors Barry & Susan Rice allowed us to collect acorns and seedlings the year before the old tree died; this caged oak seedling is one of the offspring from that historic mother oak, keeping the heritage of Rogersville’s historic trees alive for the future. Another seedling was replanted last year at Three Oaks. Matthew has additional seedlings in the nursery, and he is growing seedlings from the massive 300 year-old Travel’s Oak that grows down Main Street near the exit to TN 70.
