The Rosemont Boys
The Meadow
Until last year, this was just a lawn. Starting in the fall of 2026, we began to kill off the grass and seeded in over 60 species of native wildflowers and showy annuals. It will take a few years for the meadow to hit its stride. Our goal, as with the rest of the garden, is to respect the history of the property and support a diverse ecosystem of birds and insects.
Over the past 6 years, we have seen a marked increase in lightning bugs, butterflies, bees, and birds (at least 18 species)! We have also seen box turtles and rat snakes (which are not poisonous and eat small rodents). Some wildflowers have also reappeared when we stopped mowing a few years ago.
