Bee balm is a native wildflower in the mint family. As its name suggests, it is a beacon for bees who gorge on the nectar rich arching lilac flowers; butterflies also love Monarda. This enormous patch started off as just 3 small plants; Matthew divided the clumps 4 years ago, and they have also spread by seed. It is clearly happy! Crush a leaf to smell its bergamot fragrance.
